The Lanty Slee Liquor Co was formed after discovering Lanty’s ingredients from 1841 excise seizure records.
Lanty Slee was The Lake District’s most notorious moonshiner, born in 1803 he distilled his Liquor in the caves and fells of the Langdale valley.
Following the 1841 seizure his equipment was stored in the Royal Oak pub in Ambleside in the absence of a police station at the time. Lanty’s pals popped over and liberated it all the same night.
